Razer 3G Laser Sensor(TM) for Gaming Breaks New Ground in Laser Technology: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

Even though I don't need a new mouse... being the tech geek that I am, I want this! I'd be interested in trying this out and seeing if it's worth it or not. Currently I have the Razer Diamondback and it performs wonderfully. My girlfriend loves it too. She's been wanting one since I got it so if I get this one I can give her mine :). The main features touted by Razer are:

  • 4000dpi Razer Precision 3G Laser™ sensor - Standard is about 800dpi so this is quite a change from your regular old laser mouse. I have to admit it takes some getting used to when you go from a lower dpi to a higher dpi but once you adjust you will never want to go back :).
  • 32KB Razer Synapse™ onboard memory - This is an interesting feature. I've never seen this before so I'm interested in how this all works. There's not much about it on their site but I would be interested in how you would switch profiles from the mouse obviously it wouldn't make sense for you to switch profiles through the Razer software if that's the case why not store it on your computer. If that's the case though then this feature is kind of pointless.
  • Nine independently programmable Hyperesponse™ buttons - 2 more buttons than my Diamondback. Hopefully they are easily accessible. I've noticed that with my Diamonback I have a little bit of trouble accessing all the programmable buttons. It can be quite awkward to access them, which in my opinion is not ideal for FPS gaming. I don't really use the programmable buttons currently but I do love the On-the-fly sensitivity that they provide. That thing is awesome!
I have to say I'm impressed with Razer's products as of lately. Back when they had their ball mice, I had my doubts because of the size of the mouse and how you had to adjust in order to enjoy gaming with it. Ever since they moved over to laser mice though, their products have been quite impressive. Kudos to Razer.
